We're in the Market

It's no wonder we go out to buy
With a muddled mind and jaundiced eye.
No wonder we're suspicious and wary,
Everything's super extraordinary.

Just as soon as a claim is made
A counter-claim will strike.
And everything is different,
But everything looks alike.

You've no idea how mad this competitive spirit is.
They even try to tell us this isn't the year it is.
And every day we're fed another ton of it-
So naturally we now believe none of it.

We're skeptical and confused, so as yet,
We simply can't decide which car to get.

We're in the market, yes we're in the market,
But we're in a spot 'cause we don't know what to buy.
This car's a whopper, but that one's the topper,
No wonder we go around with a roving eye.

We just don't know which could be what,
Don't know why such is so.
Every car is hotter than hot,
Mucher than much, goer than go!

We want a new car, but we want a new car,
That we can be sure is all that it claims to be.
And all this talk is taller talk,
Than the tallest tree.

They're all the smartest, sweetest,
Loveliest, fleetest,
Lowest, classiest - the unsurpassiest -
Finest, chiq-est, the latest.
But how can they all be the greatest ?!

We're in the market, yes we're in the market,
We listen and stare and shop and compare and roam.
And all we want is to buy a car
And drive 'a hell home!*
